October 12, 2013Dear Sir,PTB should return the student bus fare and, have any student ten and up pay to catch a bus. Why’s that? Simple! If a child can afford to pay for a cellphone, an iPad, an iPhone or even a $600 Windows computer, they should be able to pay for a $20 book of bus tickets. Besides, there’s a lot of unruly children about using profanity on the bus and, other ungentlemanlike or unladylike behaviour.One child strangely avoided further discipline after, assaulting another female student at Berkeley).Now why am I one of the few who remembers that incident and not the courts, the principal, the teachers who witnessed the assault, and anybody else who ought to agree that child should be expelled for her violent act? After all, nobody knows if she’s liable to do that again right? And, what if she lashes out at another girl if, you allow her to return to school?).Back in the days when the old folks of today were much younger, they had to pay bus fare so, why not now? Why allow students to hop on a bus then hop off when the bus is ready to leave, just to hop on another bus? Don’t bus drivers find this irritating (some actually mentioned how they felt about this in a B.I.U. meeting so, I know it’s not just me that feels this way)?Whether the child attends BHS, Whitney, Somersfield, Harrington Sound or any other school, some children have earned a lot more than $20.00 every time they packed or worked elsewhere so, if they can afford a big sum in the end, they should be able to buy bus tickets as well (after all, adults have to and some have to have a furlough day on top of that, no student is losing money so they ought to be able to pay as well.BRING BACK STUDENT BUS FAREDevonshire
