Sage, the elephant

December 10, 2013

Dear Sir,

I mean no disrespect in the following, but just wish to bring a little levity to these proceedings.

An elephant went into labour and produced a mouse

They searched and searched both high and low, a wise old “SAGE” to find.

Instead they found a “DU-PER-ROW”, who seems quite out of his mind.

“Turn back the clock”, was his advice, the “DAME” she did agree.

“The workers need less pay”, she chimed, “no Champaign must they see.

We rich, we dine on Peking duck and Pheasant under Glass”.

“The poor are naught but parasites, I say let them eat grass”.

The best laid plans the poet says, may often go awry.

The SAGE’s plans did not excite, they only raised a sigh.

So though SAGE labored night and day, from darkness until morn.

With much dismay, the daylight showed naught but a mouse was born.
