Dunkley’s silence was deafening

December 18, 2013

Dear Sir,

With all that has transpired in the last week in Parliament, specifically the referendum debacle, and subsequent remarks to the defence of the Premier and the stance taken of the OBA, I can’t help but notice the silence of ‘the second in command’ of the party.

Ironically today December 17th. ’13, the Safety Minister, comes to the fore with public statements regarding marijuana decriminalisation and neighbourhood watch support.

I recall the deputy leader stating that he would not challenge Premier Craig Cannonier for the leadership position.

The potential ‘fallout’ / loss of popularity and integrity of the Premier of the recent developments, probably, will lead to questions being asked.

Hypothetically speaking, if the leadership is the ultimate goal of the deputy, albeit previously stating to the contrary, for party reasons, now is the opportune time to put ones’ self in a positive light, for the public to have the perception of him doing good for the general populace.

If there are to be concerns regarding the OBA leadership, and the possibility of a replacement, the question beckons whether or not will there be any challengers. If no challengers, then the obvious thing to do would be to ‘promote’ the deputy to the post.

That said, the Deputy, has stuck to his word — not to challenge.

Perhaps, time will tell!
