Those in glass houses Derrick....
May 28, 2014
Dear Sir,
Tonight as I watched the news I had to really smile as Mr Derrick Burgess read of the conditions of our seniors’ homes.
The amazing thing is that it appears he did not take notice during his party’s stay as government, or was this below him to bother to look into these matters during the years of the PLP government?
I think that what he does not realise, is that he has revealed the delinquency of his government, for these conditions have been this way for the past 25 years or so.
I have visited many homes over the years, and the conditions have not changed, because it is a hard struggle dealing with this problem, and in some cases there are not enough qualified personnel for full treatment of patients.
Yes, they do sit around day after day because these homes do not have a real care facility for the seniors. If there was a pool where water therapy could be available this would be a real asset to the facility, or if a pool was available for their use somewhere.
I visited a seniors’ home in Calgary, and upon entering you would think that you were entering a five-star hotel. Inside it was immaculate, and the staff were very cordial, and I was given a tour of the place, and the lady that I went to visit was very happy and comfortable.
So, Mr Burgess, you should look at the number of fingers pointing at you, and your party, before shouting fire, because the problem was in your court, and you all chose not to do anything about it, and now it is a problem.
I am not taking sides with any party, but this is just my observation after listening to you. I am sure as we look down through the years of all parties there has been negligence, but the reality of it all is that people make mistakes, and the ONE Perfect Man was crucified because of accusations.
But be of good cheer, His Word is truth and it will never change. In the book of Matthew 7:1: “Judge not, that you be not judged. {2} For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. {3} And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?”
I do trust that we will learn to live together, and work together as a people, and not as parties, for, ‘unless the Lord builds a house they labour in vain that build it’ — Psalm 127:1.
God Bless
