A note of thanks
June 19, 2014
Dear Editor
I would like to say a public thank you to the Reef Explorer who helped save the day for several groups of children. On Wednesday we took 75 children to Dockyard for a scavenger hunt, using the ferry. It was a great day and all went smoothly. The next day, Thursday, my daughter’s preschool was supposed to take the ferry as part of their study on transportation. Imagine my horror when I listened to the 7.15 news announcement that there were no ferries running. I was glad it hadn’t happened to my group, but it ruined the day’s events that had been planned.
At short notice we managed to book the Reef Explorer who said they could get them from Hamilton to Dockyard. I received a lovely phone call later, to say that when they got to Hamilton, there were other groups of children stranded with no ferries, so they picked them all up and got them over to Dockyard so that they could enjoy their day. They also said there would be no charge, they considered it their good deed for the day. I thought that was a truly positive, kind gesture in a difficult situation and goes back to people being neighbourly and helping each other out. So a big thank you from my daughter’s school Warwick Pre-School, and from all of the other schools that you helped out. Your kindness and efficiency have been noted!!
