A desire to rule above all
October 10, 2014
Dear Sir,
When I saw the organised disruption of Bob Richard’s meeting, and the words of the shadow finance minister that austerity failed in Greece and so won’t work here, I became seriously worried and wondered whether democracy is such a great idea in a country where people obviously seem intent on self destruction.
Imagine that Mr Richards is a bank manager and is standing outside the bank telling the clients the bank is empty and that there is no money but the clients are marching up and down saying “I want more money. I don’t want to make cuts, I want all the services I had long ago and I want things to stay just the same.” Insanity!
Such dangerous thinking is fuelled by one and one thing only.
A desire to be in power once again with no plan for the future and reckless spending to continue until we are all bankrupt and the great boast of Bermudians that we are among the highest GDP, Bermuda will become is bankrupt, corrupt and a lawless reckless senseless island with no resources, no plans for growth and no way to borrow any money from anyone to dig us.
People who lend money to countries take a hard cold look at leaders and ask “Would I buy a car from this man?”
If anyone is a true patriot and loves this country they have to realise that we really did need a change and we did need some new and original ideas. Not everything can happen in two years. It took 14 years to bring Bermuda to it’s knees.
Let us try and have some sensible economic planning and stop listening to the greedy power hungry extremists who are not strong enough to acknowledge that they are not victims but people capable of forming their own destiny and have faith in their common sense.
Sincerely,
JK Williams
