Standing Bear cartoon hit nail on the head

Dear Sir,

I was looking through your paper the other day, on March 25, and observed a cartoon that was pointed out to me by a friend.

I could not help but keel over laughing. The wording in the cartoon stated: “January 2021, President Standing Bear signs an executive order to deport all Caucasians back to Europe”.

I said to myself, “How timely?” If I had the right to vote in the last US election, I definitely would have voted for Hillary Clinton. But, then again on second thoughts, maybe America really does deserve Donald Trump; after all, it may well help Americans to give more thought to how they vote than to allow their out-of-whack emotions get in the way and blind them. They sure have fallen for a doozy, that’s for sure.

Every time I hear mostly white Americans talking about taking America back, what a joke I think. I can’t help but laugh even harder every time that I hear that statement being made and ask myself, “when the heck are they going to give it back?” Do they not understand that they are the trespassers on the American landscape?

Could it be that Standing Bear has a point? It may well be that Standing Bear and Donald Trump really do have something in common after all.

Is it true that you get the government you deserve? Have the American people ever thought of compensating the Indians for the hardship that they have imposed upon them? After all, the Indians did not invite you in to plunder, rape and murder them, and then turn around and steal their land, did they?

This is the reason why I don’t celebrate or praise any of those European explorers of the past; I just think that they were all full of it, if you know what I mean.

I must give Trump some credit: he did tell some Americans just what they wanted to hear. Oh, by the way, that reminds me that’s just how Adolf Hitler came to power: he just told people what they wanted to hear, then turned around and did his own thing, and they could not remove him.

But, just think, the American people could have done worse. They could have voted for David Duke — now think about that one and laugh even harder.
