Uncomfortable wait
July 27, 2011Dear Sir,We have houseguests at this time who have boarded ferries at both the St George and Dockyard stops. While discussing Bermuda's ferry service with them last night they made what I feel is a valid recommendation so that ferry passengers will be more comfortable while waiting for the ferry. We are aware that long lines begin to form to board the ferries at St George and Dockyard long before the departure time. Visitors are warned on arrival at these stops that when they want to return to their destination it will be “First come, first served”. It appears that prospective passengers arrive at the dock as much as 45 minutes or longer before the ferry's departure to ensure they are able to board it.At this time of the year, having to wait under the Bermuda sun coupled with very high humidity makes life very uncomfortable. Our guests pointed out that there were also five wheelchair bound visitors who had to wait for at least 45 minutes. Can the Bermuda Government please consider installing a covered walkway at these two ferry stops to ensure our visitors and Bermuda residents are not subjected to this very uncomfortable situation during the summer months?JOHN BARNETTWarwick
