Roaring appreciation

Dear Sir,

Please once again allow us a space in your newspaper on behalf of the Lions Clubs of Bermuda and the MarketPlace stores.

Thank you to the following: the Corporation of Hamilton for the use of one of its buildings to do the packing of the Christmas hampers.

Also a very special gratitude to the Oil Group of Companies, Pacheco & Sons Farm and dedicated staff, Butterfield & Vallis, BGA, Wakefern Corp, The MarketPlace Stores, president Seth Stutzman and Latricka Simmons for their continued support. Brit Re Insurance (Bermuda Ltd), kudos again to Joseph Cheesman for his unwavering support in collecting non-perishables from all the MarketPlace stores and those schools that donated goods, Bermuda Police Service (parish constables department), Lieutenant Leonard Davis, of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, Mr. Lionel Raynor and staff, Dalton Stovell.

A thank-you to Lions Debi and Dudley Cottingham for the use of their home in wrapping the boxes for the hampers; along with them were the presidents of the Eastern and Paget Lions clubs, Lions Delma Parfitt, and Paul Dean with other members of Paget, Eastern, and Hamilton Lions Clubs and their spouses.

Raymond Simmons, Sonia Howes, Dianne Furbert who assisted in delivering hampers to seniors unable to collect.

Our heartfelt thanks to the nursery schools, government preschools, primary schools, middle schools, Bermuda High School for Girls, the Berkeley Institute and Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy for their continued support over the many years that we have been doing this worthwhile project.

This year we were able to give 577 food hampers.

On behalf of the committee and volunteers, zone chairman Mark Botelho, Lions Stephen Dean, grandson Jean Stovell and Joanne T. Johnston.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you all. As Bermudians, we are going through a very difficult time in our island because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

God bless all of you who gave and, those that were on the receiving end.
