We should be thanking Britain for vaccines

Dear Sir,

The Governor, Rena Lalgie, examines the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines delivered to Bermuda by the British Government

I just hope that our premier thanked the British Government for sending a free vaccine supply to Bermuda, as a UK Overseas Territory. I have never heard a word of appreciation from the Premier for this gesture, but perhaps he has written to thank the British Government. I hope so.

The continuing talk about independence is quite frightening when you consider that islands that are now independent from Britain are having trouble purchasing vaccines for their people.

Indeed, St Kitts & Nevis, which went independent in 1983, has had to go to India to purchase the necessary vaccines for its citizens.

I would suggest that all Bermudians write to our new governor to express their gratitude for this kind gesture from Britain; I think this is the least we can do.
