St Regis a big hit in the pocket for common man
Dear Sir,
Just out of curiosity as an Elite Platinum member of the Marriott Corp, I looked up rate for a stay at the hotel. First one was for May 27, eve of holiday — rate with tax right around $1,100.00!
Second, this morning (May 29, 2021), I checked for a possible Cup Match stay — two-night stay, $2,968.00!
I ask, who in their right mind is going to come and be able to afford those type of rates in a certainly not spectacular setting and limited resources next to nowhere?
Now, I do not even have an egg or Heineken in my mouth yet, so need to plan for, I would say, at least another $300 to $500 per day for amenities, food and drinks for two — note, you can’t walk down the street anywhere close to pick up a few items!
Good luck, St Regis.
Ps. I hope any guests at St Regis do not attempt to get a taxi to Hamilton for a little change of scenery because after a great meal at Harbourfront on the evening of the holiday, I enjoyed playing a Bermudian ambassador and took people back to their accommodation from the restaurant before curfew, as there was not a taxi in sight and numerous groups waiting on Front Street for service to get home on time. The maitre d’ there tried relentlessly to get a taxi . They were not even answering the phone!
Welcome to Bermuda, tourists and residents alike
