Stripped bare of moral responsibility

Dear Sir,

My husband and I took the ferry to Dockyard on Sunday. I was appalled to see lots of young women allowed on the ferry just about naked; let’s just say nothing was left to the imagination. Have our standards sunk so low in Bermuda?

I thought it was against the law to enter public transport in undress — and of course they had to walk in Hamilton that way, too. I can forgive tourists, as they are ignorant of our laws and policies. I was embarrassed for all the families and young children that were exposed to this vulgarity. And I was embarrassed and ashamed for the girls who felt they had to expose themselves to get attention.

There is a line between sexy and vulgar (trashy). Unfortunately, these women obviously don’t have strong leadership role models in their life. Instead, they use social media to lead them — that’s very plain to see.

If you want to dress like that at your beach party or your events that call for that dress, go right ahead. Use your tiny outfits in the appropriate setting, but please be mindful of families and children. We really don’t want to see what you had for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There were also a couple of shirtless men (thank God no speedos, right Grumpy Old Man? Love you by the way and welcome back). Also, men, it is against the law to be running in a public place shirtless, so please cover up. If you don’t see others around you doing it, don’t you think there may be a reason?

Please keep Bermuda classy, not trashy.
