Kudos to BermudAir

File photograph by Akil Simmons

Dear Sir,

On Monday (December 18, 2023), a severe storm in Massachusetts caused the US Federal Aviation Administration to ground all flights at Logan International Airport for most of the day.

This left several Bermuda-bound passengers — including my husband and me, and families with young children — potentially stranded in Boston because the outgoing BermudAir Boston flight was also grounded in Bermuda by high winds.

BermudAir took the decision to divert its New York flight to Boston to pick us up later that evening when the storm eased.

I would like to thank BermudAir for taking this action, and the passengers and crew on that New York flight who prolonged their journey so we could get home.

Congratulations also to the BermudAir pilot’s smooth landing despite strong winds in Bermuda that night.

Finally, as it was almost midnight when we landed, thanks also to the customs and airport staff at L.F. Wade International Airport who stayed late to process us into Bermuda.

Happy Christmas to you all.
