Rallying cry for old-school customer service

Dear Sir,

Do you remember “customer service”? That was when salesmen and women actually spoke to their customers.

A warm smile and a “Good morning” or “Good afternoon” and “How may I help you?" ”Did you find everything you were looking for?“. ”May I help you locate something in the store?“

How refreshing when a salesman or woman actually looks the customer in the eye!

Granted, there are some establishments where customer service is very well exhibited. However, there are others where it is sorely lacking.

I can name several stores where the sales staff are busy talking on their phones — personal phone calls, talking to each other, far too busy to ask me if I need assistance.

I suppose they assume I don't need help; in those cases, I don’t need their merchandise!

Do you know who is actually paying your salary? It’s not the human resources department; it’s the customer!

Bring back “back in the day”!
