Understanding conflict of interest
Dear Sir,
It is time that Chris Furbert, the president of the Bermuda Industrial Union, be taken to task over his repeatedly raving display of public anger. Such behaviour is not that of an astute leader.
In relation to the issue involving his son, Mr Furbert demonstrates complete disregard for conflict of interest and the rules of natural justice. He should not be participating in any discussion where his son is the subject because, in so doing, his very presence constitutes a blatant bias — not a likelihood of bias.
It is time that Mr Furbert take stock of his behaviour, as he alienates many of those people who would otherwise support his cause. Rabble-rousing is not appropriate when there is no call to arms.
