Horrified by Southlands possibilities
Dear Sir,
I have read the Southlands Plan. Absolutely horrified! The Government rescued this priceless property from developers once before to secure it for future generations. It now plans to plunder mercilessly and destroy it as perhaps the last example of how Bermuda once was.
I agree with restoring the buildings, but for educational use (classrooms, etc) not commercial use. Invasives should be culled and kept at bay. We don’t need more beach facilities, especially as it is reportedly dangerous.
Recruit the services of Bermuda Zoological Society, Bermuda Audubon Society, Bermuda National Trust and other similar organisations. Maybe even Buy Back Bermuda.
Develop only for walking and education — not commerce. Maintain the property in its natural beauty for the awe and wonder of future generations of Bermudians and their children.
Once destroyed, it will be lost for ever!
