To our young graduates: make Bermuda great again

Dear Sir,

To the secondary school graduating class of 2025, good luck to you all!

You are starting on an exciting new journey in your lives. Whether you are heading to colleges and universities overseas, attending Bermuda College, or taking a gap year, the world awaits!

If you chose employment here at home, consider learning a trade. Plumbers, electricians, mechanics and other skilled tradesmen rarely lack employment opportunities.

Work hard, study hard and embrace the opportunities life has in store for you.

Your families are proud of you, and look forward to the stories and exciting news you will have to tell us. We wish you much happiness and success in whatever you decide to do.

When you finish your studies, we hope you bring your talents and skills back home. We need and want your valuable contributions to our business world, hospitality, medical professions, legal work and every facet of Bermudian life.

We certainly need and want your fresh ideas and input to help run our government.

As my good friend, David Lopes, said — and to borrow a phrase — we need to “Make Bermuda Great Again”.

To all our young people, the world is waiting for you.
