Dear Sir,

I just wanted to publicly thank one of what I refer to as one of Bermuda’s Icons — none other than Mr E. Michael Jones. I was fortunate that our paths crossed in September 2024 after he had “rescued” two of my friends who had made their way to the Town Cut at Gates Fort to watch a cruise ship enter St George’s.

There was E. Michael “crying” them through and welcoming them in his indomitable style. My friends were walking to catch the bus back to Grotto Bay when he stopped his car and offered to drive them. I have since learnt that this is something he does often for visitors.

I myself had planned a solo trip for October of this year and, having maintained contact with E. Michael, I was privileged for him to not only to pick me up at the airport on arrival, ensure I was safely ensconced in my Airbnb, and then collect me and deliver me back to the airport on departure.

He also shared his time with me during my visit. He established very quickly and seamlessly what it was that I wanted to do during my visit. He ensured that not only did I do all of the things I had planned, but so much more.

He introduced me to all kinds of things, including sampling several fish sandwiches, swimming in the best coves around, showing me sights and places off of the beaten track, and patiently explaining all kinds of history and anecdotes of Bermuda.

Very self-effacing but a true ambassador for Bermuda and an absolute legend. Thank you, Mr Jones. I’ll definitely be back.
