The importance of canvassing

Dear Sir,
Perhaps Mr Burt can encourage other candidates to canvass. You state and I quote: “David Burt rebuked Mr [Jason] Hayward for stating he does not need the votes of people who complained they had not been canvassed by him.” Mr Hayward has very good company in all of his colleagues.
During the past 60 years, I have had visits from Eugene Cox and Anthony Richardson. I did have a visit from Wayne Caines after I had sent an invitation.
I suppose three visits in 60 years shows the commitment to all Bermudians and not just the party faithful!
