Food for thought

March 24, 2011Dear Sir,This morning during my devotions it gave me food for thought and really opened my mind to the thoughts of Bermuda and the country it is becoming. The first topic was “the worship experience’, ‘put your soul on alert’ and ‘insight for aging’. For a moment I would like for each reader to stop and think about worship and what it means. Worship takes on a different meaning for each of us as we apply it to our lives. For some it means reverence to God and to some it means loyalty to a God which in many cases a person or thing. Until we get back to worshipping God we will turn to our own understanding and worship our own Gods. This is distruction for certain as we see around us today. The bood of Mark 8:36-37 reads “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his soul’. vs 37, or “What will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Recently we have seen too many of our young men loose their life and for what. Because of their God or Gods. It’s so easy for a person to put a thousand dollar suit on a one cent soul. Put your soul on alert. Now let us look at the final topic “Insight for aging”. In the book of Proverbs 10:27 reads “The fear of the Lord prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened”. Look at the statistics on the young men that have been killed or seriously injured in some way over the years. So I asked you who will question the Bible and who will prove it wrong. And in the 5th Commandment reads “Honor your father and your mother that your days will be long on the land which the Lord thy God is given thee”. It is said that a centenarian was asked about the benefits of living to be 100 years old. He simply smiled and said there is no peer pressure (smile). Readers what is your insight for aging? In the book of Leviticus 19 gives pacific instructions for our living and in vs.32 gives instructions for the aged. Which reads “You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the Lord”. Readers when you take these Godly principles out of life you are dealing below the table. In other words you have become worldly and that is emnity to God. Those who are choosing to lead this country must live by the words of Paul who writes in the book of Philippians 4:8 and it reads”reads “finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praise worthy - meditate on these things”. In the world there are only two choices the world or the word of God. Government chose you this day who you will continue to serve. For we, the people are being turned off.At this time the Government is having a hard time juggling the books on the aged. It gives a little and then it takes the little in exchange for a little somewhere else. Realistically speaking it is a tough task, and when your supplies are diminishing it gets tougher. Government has to look at itself very seriously and take stock of the long downturn unless it sees the improvement of a financial growth on the horizon. And when the finance world is saying that American is reaching its pinnacle of borrowing where does that put Bermuda. In the opening of this letter I spoke or what this country is becoming. We are becoming a very vindictive and dictatorial country. there are all kinds of revengeful acts taking place throughout thee country. The wholesaler gets their revenge on the retailer and the retailer gets his revenge on the consumer. The stret gangs gets its revenge on the other street gangs and it just goes on and on. The Government dictates to the small income earners and the big fish get away. To a degree what one cannot control when one is supposed to be in control and cannot it becomes a part of the product. We seniors are going to have to tighten our belts for the future and teach our grands how we got over in the past. In closing remember these words always “When your outgoing is bigger then your income your upkeep will be your downfall”. God bless you all. Remember love the sinner hate the sin.A.E.
