Redundancies follow store change of ownership

Furniture Flair Ltd. has announced that Alex DeCouto has taken over as the new owner and president of the 30-year-old furniture dealership in a restructuring of the business.Mr DeCouto told The Royal Gazette that the deal came about as the business could not continue in its current form in today's shrinking market and as a result will be making three staff redundant, with all receiving full severance packages, and is talking to another three about staying on in various capacities. The former Construction Association of Bermuda president and current Greymane Contracting Ltd. president, whose company specialises as a contractor in interior office fit outs, said that operating as a group, the combined service will provide clients with unparalleled selection and service for their interior finish needs.“Furniture Flair are authorized dealers for a number of outstanding brands like Teknion (office furniture), Milliken (carpet), and Hunter Douglas (window treatments),” he said.“Consolidating operations will allow us to make an investment in the marketing of these brands to the public and the design community, as well as to fit out a fantastic Furniture and Flooring Resource Center in the near future.”In order to provide continuity, previous owner/manager David Pantry will be retained under a separate contract for an extended period in a sales and project management capacity.
