Lovit goes from virtual store to Queen Street reality
Businesswoman Jenia Thompson has taken her online clothing boutique from the Internet to the heart of Hamilton. She opened Lovit Boutique two years ago as an online venture aimed at shoppers looking for classy, fashionable clothing and accessories at an affordable price. But Ms Thompson decided this year it was time to have a physical store. She opened the new boutique on Queen Street, across from KFC, last Saturday.“I decided to open a retail location because with clothes and jewellery people like to feel, touch and try on,” Ms Thompson said.“The store will allow me to showcase my products in the best way possible. The online store did well. The private shopping nights did better though which made me realise I needed a location.“I still intend on keeping the web site so that people have the ability to view what’s in the store at any given time.”Lovit Boutique carries a number of trendy fashion lines, including LAMB by Gwen Stefani, Black Halo, Foly + Corinna, CC Skye and Ani Lee.Ms Thompson, who is financial controller for group private banking at HSBC, said the boutique is managed by Dennis Eve, whom she called a “great support”.“I did not necessarily want to open in bad economic times,” Ms Thompson said, “but I really feel as though Bermudian women and men even still want to shop they just want to shop for great pieces. I feel if I can continually provide this I should have the ability to wear out the bad economy. And if I can get through these times the future will be brighter.”Lovit is open 10am to 6pm and is closed on Sundays.“We also offer private nights though for individuals or groups,” she said.
