Renaissance teams up with French-owned company to bolster airport operations

Airport services boost: Renaissance Aviation has teamed up with WFS

Renaissance Aviation has signed a deal with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to provide management oversight of its ramp and passenger business at LF Wade International Airport.WFS, which is owned by French investment firm FBO, will also offer technical assistance, training and administrative support.Renaissance Aviation, which was formed in November 2009 and started operating in February 2010, is a full service ground handler based at the airport which specialises in above and below wing operations as well as engineering and maintenance services.Its current customer base includes American Airlines, AirTran, Air Canada, British Airways, CargoJet, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, US Airways, WestJet and the Bermuda Department of Airport Operations.The company, which has more than 100 employees, took on a number of the Sovereign Group’s staff and clients when the company went out of business in February 2010.Nick Faries, general manager of Renaissance Aviation, said that the motivation behind the deal was to raise the standard of service in terms of training, compliance and audit.“Air travel is critically important to Bermuda, and as a local company supporting this industry we owe it to our stakeholders to provide nothing less than world class service,” he said.“We are therefore very excited to be bringing to Bermuda the benefits of this partnership with WFS, who are a proven international leader in aviation services.
