Luxury for Less expands to three stores
During a time of contracting retail sales, Queen Street retail shop, Luxury for Less, has opened two additional branches in Bermuda and is looking to franchise abroad. The shop offers a variety of fashion apparel, shoes, bags, scarves and jewellery at affordable prices.Owner Linda Adderley, who also co-owns jeweller E.R. Aubrey, which shares space with the clothing shop, says that things have been going so well since they opened a year ago that she opened a branch on Front Street and in Dockyard as well.“Customers love our stores so much we have gone from one store to three in a year,” she said. “We are getting shoppers from all walks of life from locals to tourists asking what shop am I in? Then they text their friends or call them while in the shop. It’s a hit from teens to 70 plus.”While she admits that December holiday sales at her Front Street location were a bit “soft” she said that her overall December numbers looked positive with a bustling Queen Street location and a busy pre-Christmas rush in Dockyard.“We were happy with what December brought; we were blessed,” she said, adding that she even increased her staff from one to four people to accommodate her expanding business.According to Ms Adderley, the shop’s designer jackets are “hot sellers” for under $200 and its fashion jewellery, ranging in price from $20 to $200, are popular items as well.“We received a Best of Bermuda award for Best Fashion Accessory,” she said. “We have high fashion boots for $60 and almost sold out of 700 scarves that were $20 each.”Ms Adderley says that her idea of bringing affordable luxury to the masses has not only caught on here but abroad as well.“We have been asked to be in New York, Atlanta and there has been some talk of Toronto but we will have to see,” she said. What she believes sets her shops apart, she says, is that it strives to be its customers’ “fashion consultants, dressing them from head to toe”.“Ladies will bring in their shoes or a dress and we will complete the out fit for them,” she explained. “You must set the stage and the experience for the customer and be willing to go the extra mile.”In the New Year, Ms Adderley plans on conducting social media marketing, holding raffles they gave away a $1,000 gift voucher to the store, two iPads and four Kindle Fires in December and holding a 30 to 60 percent discount sale starting this week.
