Stresses are a part of everyday life, but one Hamilton business is offering ways to replace that stress with inner peace. My Serenti-Tea offers holistic treatments, meditation classes and workshops and sells organic teas, spiritual books and crystals together, they’re designed to help people find their peace within.“It’s about everything I love,” said Deryn Higgins of her shop. “I love books, I love tea and I have been in a spiritual path for about 18 years and been training in holistic studies since 2004.“I love crystals and everything to do with spirituality and enlightenment so I wanted to put it all together in a store and offer people an atmosphere that we really don’t have.“Right now we are going through changes, everybody is, and there is fear and worry and sometimes we need to disassociate with that. We have repeat people coming in on their lunch hour to have some tea, sit with their book and just disconnect from all that is going on out there.”Ms Higgins is a holistic health practitioner, rohun therapist and reiki master. Rohun is a systematic and rapid acting psychotherapy for personal growth and change which helps the individual clear faulty thought patterns that attract negative situations. Reiki is a Japanese healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.“We teach workshops for personal growth, intuitive development and spirituality, for example we offer a women’s healing circle,” said Ms Higgins. “A lot of people are seeking spirituality and more and more are opening up to all of this. We are shifting from the old beliefs to the new and as we do that we have to shift within ourselves.“My life came to a crossroads 18 years ago and that’s what put me on a spiritual path. I know my purpose now is to help those on a spiritual path and to heal within.”The store has about 160 types of teas, including green and white teas, herbal and holistic teas, Chinese teas, books on spirituality enlightenment and crystals. “Crystals have been really big and we are expanding our crystal line,” explained the store owner.“Crystals have energies like we do and each crystal helps on a physical, mental and emotional level for a specific purpose.”Her decision to open the store on Reid Street was “more about my passion and everything that I love”, she explained.“We have a sign on the window that says: ‘Are you in stress, are you in fear? Come in and see us.”My Sereni-Tea also schedules sessions on a Biomat, an FDA-approved, 17-layer medical device that incorporates negative ions and infrared ray therapies with the use of amethysts to produce a heating pad that gives long lasting healing benefits. It is recommended to start off on 15-minute sessions, with the time gradually increased. Free 15 minute sessions on the Biomat are being offered.Ms Higgins is to offer a series of free talks every Wednesday starting tomorrow, at 11.30am. A different topic is scheduled for each week. She added: “All healing is to do with your thoughts and your feelings. Negative thoughts and feelings can create disease in the body. Those faulty feelings that you have been hanging onto play out in your life.”Useful website: www.mysereniteabermuda.com. and on facebook.com.
