Appleby appoints three new partners
Global offshore law firm Appleby has announced the appointments of Alan Bossin, Sarah Demerling and John Wasty as partners.Mr Bossin is a senior member of Appleby’s Insurance team, which forms part of Appleby’s Corporate and Commercial practice group. Mr Bossin specialises in insurance and reinsurance with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and private equity and regulatory matters.His significant experience includes representing public and private acquirors and target companies in a variety of Bermuda insurance company acquisitions. He regularly advises on the establishment of all classes of insurance companies and the regulatory regime governing Bermuda insurers.Ms Demerling is Appleby’s local team leader for Islamic Finance and deputy team leader of the Funds & Investment Services team within the Corporate & Commercial department in Bermuda. She has broad expertise in all aspects of Bermuda corporate law, and specialises in advising on structuring and operating investment vehicles, including mutual funds, hedge funds, unit trusts, partnerships, closed-ended funds and more recently on structures using fund vehicles to invest indirectly into insurance-linked products.Mr Wasty is Appleby’s global Insurance and Reinsurance Dispute Resolution team leader. He has extensive experience in international insurance and reinsurance, and professional indemnity (particularly directors and officers, and accountants) dispute resolution, including insurance and reinsurance insolvency issues.
