Bermuda Parent magazine expands to TV

One-woman publisher Katrina Ball has expanded Bermuda Parent magazine to include TV.She has already produced two Bermuda Parent TV episodes appearing on her website and on Bermuda local sports and entertainment Channel 82.“Our first two episodes have concentrated on education when in or around water in order to prevent drowning,” Mrs Ball said.“Having recently had several near drowning situations this summer. I think this information is vital to the general public. In our first episode ‘Drowning doesn’t look like drowning’ we interviewed Dr (Edward) Schutlz, who is the director of emergency at KEMH.“Our second episode is entitled ‘Stay safe at the beach’ where we have interviewed senior lifeguards at Horseshoe Beach.”The videos can be viewed on her information-packed website, www.bermudaparentmagazine.com, under Bermuda Parent TV.Mrs Ball said each week the plan is to air a new episode providing knowledge and skills to parents and the public in general.Mrs Ball, a mom of two, won the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation’s Rocket Pitch contest for entrepreneurs last year.She said she came up with the idea for the magazine through personal experience as a new mom seeking local information and advice on parenting.She launched her first issue of the quarterly earlier this year. Content includes expert advice from local professionals, an events calendar, tips, articles and commentary on raising children and focusing on the family.
