FedEx: Delivering on employment
Each day this week, The Royal Gazette will profile the companies that made the top five of The Bottom Line magazine’s 2012 Top 10 Employers in Bermuda survey, this year sponsored by professional services firm PwC.Package transportation logistics, FedEx, ranked second in the survey, after placing third in 2011.Locally the company has 33 employees that is 100 percent Bermudian.The staff at FedEx seem clear on their mission of top-notch service and feel that the company rewards them in return with “excellent” benefits and job security. In this year’s survey, FedEx had one of the lowest turnover rates of all the participants.The company offers a “SWEEPS” bonus scheme paid out quarterly, development programmes for those who want to move into management positions, eight weeks’ paid maternity leave and tuition reimbursement of up to $1,500 annually.FedEx also pays for a guaranteed minimum of 35 hours per week, whether an employee works those hours or not.“We understand that the people of FedEx, more than the planes, trucks or technology, deliver the service for which FedEx is so well known for,” said a FedEx spokesperson. “FedEx is made up of more than 300,000 team members from various walks of life, reflecting the value and attention we place on diversity.
