BAS acquires BESCO
The diversified facilities management group Bermuda Aviation Services said yesterday that it had acquired a majority equity position in Bermuda Energy Serivces Company Limited (BESCO). The terms of the deal were not disclosed.BAS group president Kenneth Joaquin told The Royal Gazette that with a well-earned reputation for providing quality service, BESCO will enhance the strength of the BAS Group.“We have spent the last two years looking at the companies within our portfolio and have been looking at strategic acquisitions and start-ups that will enhance the array of services that the group is able to provide,” Mr Jaoquin said. “We are building a group of best breed service providers in their niche areas that we can tie together under a common umbrella of service offerings. BESCO fits that profile exactly.”“At BESCO we realised that during the current economic climate there was a need to reposition ourselves to be even more competitive,” said Bryan Adams, vice president of operations and co-owner of BESCO. “Consequently, we undertook an extensive exercise to determine appropriate potential partners. We are extremely pleased that BAS will merge with BESCO as we share many core values. Given the reputation and depth of BAS we are pleased that BESCO is now a member of an esteemed group of companies.”Mr Adams and Terry Barrow will assume the roles of president and senior vice president, respectively.
