Nearly 30 vendors turn out for trade show

Nearly 30 vendors turned out for a trade show organised by the Bermuda Economic Development Council.The event, which was linked with the panel of entrepreneurs telling how they had found a market overseas, took place on Wednesday night at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess hotel.The BEDC’s Erica Smith said: “The overall event titled ‘Think Big: Growing Locally & Globally Now!’ was decided on as we thought it would be fitting to show tangible examples of how Bermuda-based businesses are expanding in the local market, as well as internationally.”At the trade show, a wide range of providers, including some from financial services, Government, the insurance and pension business, legal, marketing and advertising, business management and information technology.One attendee remarked that “it was great meeting and talking to vendors that they would not have spoken to otherwise”, the BEDC stated.Freisenbruch Meyer, one of the three insurance firms at the show, told the BEDC that this was “a great opportunity to meet new and existing clients”.United Airlines, a sponsor for the event, raffled off an airline ticket to assist a budding entrepreneur with achieving their dreams of expanding their business globally.Mrs Smith added: “BEDC will continue to facilitate the sharing of ideas for our clients and entrepreneurs through events like this that provide opportunities for exposure for new and established businesses. We are grateful for HSBC Bermuda coming on as Lead Sponsor and Freisenbruch Meyer, Capital G, Butterfield Bank, KMPG, and United Airlines as supporting sponsors. Without those companies who are all dedicated to growing entrepreneurship and enterprise in Bermuda, we could not have held this event this year.”
