Large turnout expected for Budget Breakfast with Finance Minister
Minister of Finance, Bob Richards will address members of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce at their Annual Budget Breakfast next week. The breakfast will be held on Monday, to immediately follow this Friday’s Budget Statement. The Chamber last year changed the breakfast to a panel format, which it says proved to be very popular, so it will do the same this year. The panel will be led by moderator Arthur Wightman, partner and insurance leader at professional services firm PwC, the sponsors for the event.Joining Mr Richards on the panel are Craig Simmons, chief economist at the Bermuda College, George Hutchings, chief operating officer, OIL Insurance and president of the Association of Bermuda International Companies (ABIC) and Peter Everson of PEConsultants and co-chair of the Chamber’s Economics Advisory Committee.Joanne MacPhee, executive director of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, said it should be an interesting and thought provoking session.“The moderator will introduce our panellist and each one will have ten minutes to provide the audience with their analysis of the numbers. Our guests will be invited to submit questions in advance and on the morning of the breakfast, and it is expected that the moderator will then lead a very lively question and answer session.”Mr Wightman, the moderator said attendees can expect an interesting exchange of dialogue.“We anticipate a larger than usual turnout for the popular event, given this is a new Minister and a new Government. The panel is made up of some of the Island’s leading economic and business minds, so we look forward to a great discussion.”The Chamber’s Annual Budget Breakfast will take place at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess starting at 8am on Monday the 25th. The panel discussion will begin at 8:45. Those wishing to attend should contact Alison Outerbridge aouterbridge@bcc.bm.
