New day spa opens on Laffan Street

First Prev 1 2 Next Last

Pampering, privacy and peace are the first aims of many spas. Tai Homespa can tick that box — tucked away in a Hamilton neighbourhood, and offering traditional Asian treatments including Thai and Balinese massages.

The spa opened its doors this past December 1 for a ‘soft’ launch, but plans an official opening next Thursday when Former Premier Sir John Swan will cut the ribbon.

Located in a house at 14 Laffan Street, the Asian-styled emporium of beauty and soothing treatments is managed by Bhola Bhattarai, who was with Willow Stream Spa for more than three years before the opening Tai Homespa.

The Nepalese-born masseuse and acupuncturist had worked for Saudi royalty and hotels throughout the Middle East before coming to Bermuda.

The exotic Tai Homespa is primarily aimed at Bermuda residents.

“We are trying to attract some tourists, but it is handy for those who work in town — you can come here during a break.

“We have parking and privacy,” he said.

“And we have some unique treatments, including a four-hands massage.

“This is popular. Our signature massage is an Asian Blend massage, which is a combination of Thai, Chinese and Indonesian techniques.”

As well as massage, the spa offers an array of facials and body care treatments, as well as packages which can fill a day with relaxation and beauty.

They also offer manicures and pedicures, as well as eye lash tinting and hair removal.

The spa also features their own branded line of products, all of which are made in Thailand. “They are pure, they are organic,” he said. “We have had very good feedback about our products.”

The prices range from $20 for eyelash or eyebrow tinting to $249 for a 90 minute four-hands massage.

Or you can have a Cleopatra Milk Bath for $39. A deep tissue massage will cost $99, while a 30 minute refresher facial costs $59.

The spa is currently offering pre-grand opening specials including manicures and pedicures from $55 up.

The company’s website says its Tai brand is “the first of its kind in Bermuda manufactured in Thailand using a custom blend of herbs and secret ingredients and presented in wash, exfoliating cleansers, purifying mask, foundation creams and vitamin packed lotions.

“Our experienced staff shall advise which treatment and skin product maybe best suited for your skin type and desired result.”
