The son of an employee Bermuda Aviation Services subsidiary has won the firm’s $10,000 annual chairman’s scholarship award.

Raequan Rochester, whose father Anthony Seymour works at energy efficiency firm Besco, is a student at Georgia State University studying business administration in risk management and insurance.

David Pugh, chairman of the BAS Group, said: “Our hope is that this award will assist the recipient with embarking on a rewarding career path, wherever his interests may lie.

“Raequan is a conscientious, hard-working young man with a very promising future in the insurance industry, and we are pleased to assist him financially with his studies.

“We look forward to hearing about his many successes.”

Mr Rochester, who is working as a summer student at Argus, is already a graduate of Bermuda College, where he gained an associate degree in business administration.

The $10,000-a-year scholarship runs for up to four years.

The award is open to BAS Group employee dependents who are qualified to proceed with, or enrolled in, university studies in a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree programme.
