Six vendors under one roof at pop-up store
A new pop-up store has opened on Reid Street for the holiday season.
Six vendors have rented space in what used to be The Complete Office store.
Some of the items being sold are traditional Bermudian antiques, books, handmade purses, tea bags, paintings and hand crafted jewellery.
Stephen Lusher, who thought of the idea to open a pop-up location, believes it will be beneficial for the month leading up to Christmas.
“I kept walking by here and noticed it was empty each time. I decided to approach the landlords and they said that we can rent part of it for the month. I called other small business owners I know and came together to form this pop-up store.”
Mr Lusher mentioned that most of the items being sold are Bermudian-themed and by locals.
“I have been an auctioneer and dealer for the last 30 years. We have done estate sales and auctions in people's houses in the past.” he said.
He sells antiques and jewellery at the shop alongside his sister Cindy Mitchell, who creates and handmakes jewellery from fresh-water and Tahitian pearls.
Ms Mitchell has been making beaded and silver jewellery for more than 14 years. It was initially a hobby before she developed it into a small business.
She said: “I usually sell at jewellery parties in my house. Since I moved, I have combined a small studio where I work and a shop. Moving in with my brother is my first retail in town. I also sell at Harbour Nights in the summer.”
The shop is be open from 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Saturdays.
