Online business: Keisha Clarke-Hill, founder of Bazaam

A veteran of the retail industry has launched her own online store.

Last month, Keisha Clarke-Hill established Bazaam, which is the name of the e-commerce business.

“The world is changing and gone are the days where you have to look for parking, walk all over town looking for something to wear,” Ms Clarke-Hill said.

“Instead, you can go online, see it and buy it. The only obstacle is waiting for items to arrive, knowing your size and the quality of the merchandise you are ordering.”

The store sells an array of items such as ladies apparel, handbags and shoes in a variety of sizes from smalls up to plus sizes.

On Bazaam’s website, it describes itself as “an online store created to empower women to be confident and to dress however they feel. We believe that you are what you wear. So wear it good!”

Having worked in the retail industry for over 20 years, Mrs Clarke-Hill has experience in the field and has always had a passion for fashion and for owning her own store.

“Ever since I was younger I have always wanted to own my own boutique,” she said. “I opened a small retail store on Court Street, back in the 90s called, 9.2.5 Boutique.

“My sister Kimberly Lewis was the one who encouraged me to do it, she helped reignite my candle, and my spark came back.”

Besides Ms Lewis, she thanks her mother, Roberta Clarke, husband Kenneth Hill and cousin Jermaine Darrell for their continuing support. Since opening she has received positive feedback.

She mentioned that the business is building up slowly as it’s only a few weeks old. Mrs Clarke-Hill explained the online ordering process: “It is straightforward, individuals will place an order, pay the flat rate for shipping and I will give customers a call once the items have arrived.”

In the future Mrs Clarke-Hill said she hopes to arrange next-day delivery and a service where customers are able to try on clothing once it arrives.
