Bespoke Bermuda relocation web portal gets underway

Bermuda's move to attract “digital nomads” to work remotely on the island has come at the right time for a company that has been helping people to relocate here for the past 13 years.

Corporate Concierge Bermuda Ltd has launched a bespoke Bermuda relocation web portal to assist clients gathering information and assistance as they look to live and work to the island.

The company said the timing was perfect for the new portal after the Bermuda Government's One Year Residential Certificate initiative went live this month.

Sylvia Jones, managing director of Corporate Concierge, said: “When the Government announced the ‘Work from Bermuda One Year Residential Certificate', it extended a lifeline to our business. Given that our core business is inbound and outbound relocation support, we closed when the airport closed back in March.

“With global travel challenges and extreme caution around Covid-19, international business, the sector upon which we largely rely, is still very slow in resuming its normally very active high profile frequent travel. However, we have already fielded calls and have several clients who are taking advantage of the One Year Residential Certificate and so we welcome this new initiative.”

The Hamilton-based company described its new web platform as “beautifully designed, user-friendly”, and said it would serve as “a reservoir of extensive, easily accessible, up-to-date information about Bermuda”.

The relocation and destination management company has provided relocation support to Bermuda's executives since 2007.

Ms Jones said: “Over the past 13 years of fielding questions from those moving to Bermuda, we know how to anticipate their needs. While every relocation experience is unique to the individual, and we tailor our support accordingly, there are however key components to the relocation process and essential information about Bermuda that is standard and important for those moving to the island to understand. These form the core of the platform.”

Clients can use the portal as a stand-alone resource to manage their own relocation, or to compliment the one-to-one executive relocation support that Corporate Concierge provides. It also provides access to discounts and benefits from strategic partners.

Once on-board, clients can explore five main areas from a personal dashboard: discover, rent, shipping, education, and settle.

In the rent area, the company's consultants can curate a custom list of properties and collaborate with clients to keep track of favourites, exchange messages, and plan appointments. Tasks regarding lease negotiations, utilities set up and home furnishing can be managed through the platform.

In the settle area, clients can find guidance on topics including banking, healthcare, safety, lifestyle, transportation, shopping, and restaurants.

Julia Kempe, relocation consultant at Corporate Concierge, said a big challenge is when clients have misinformed preconceived ideas about what it takes to set up in Bermuda, and have relied on unofficial Bermuda websites and social media platforms. She said: “Managing expectations is a big part of what we do. Nowhere is there an unbiased, factual step-by-step guide to Bermuda relocation — until now.”

Tara Burgess, also a relocation consultant, added: “Having investigated at length various apps and third party providers, I knew we wanted a platform that we could customise to reflect the culture, vibrancy and flair of Bermuda.”
