Virtual networking event hailed a success

The Department of Workforce Development has partnered with 10 local recruitment agencies to hold a virtual networking event that attracted some 60 Bermudian corporate professionals seeking employment opportunities.

The event has been hailed as a success, prompting organisers to say they are planning to hold a similar networking event soon.

The corporate professionals who participated in the event, some who live here and others who live abroad, networked and explored employment opportunities in various fields including accounting, legal, corporate administration and others.

The recruitment agencies participating in the event were Acumen Group, Details Management Ltd, Elevate Executive Selection, Executemps Ltd, Expertise Group Ltd, Frontier Financial Services Ltd, Island Employment Partners, Ontru, The Platinum Group Ltd, and Performance Solutions Ltd.

A government spokesman said the consensus from all recruiters was that the event was a resounding success, allowing them to meet many intelligent and capable candidates. He said recruiters will work with all the participants to assist them in securing employment with local employers.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Labour, said: “For Bermuda to successfully navigate these challenging social and economic times, it is essential for the Government and local businesses to work together. And so I am proud of all the local recruitment agencies and the Department of Workforce Development for holding this virtual networking event for Bermudians. I thank you for your participation and dedication to put so many employment professionals in contact with local businesses that are looking to hire new staff.”

He added: “This was an excellent opportunity for Bermudian corporate professionals seeking employment opportunities to reach a large number of local recruiters and demonstrate the value they bring. I am confident that many participating in the event are now on the path to employment in their chosen field.

“Most importantly, this event and others like it help improve the social and economic conditions in our country and bring us that much closer to Bermuda seeing its best days.”

Individuals seeking employment are encouraged to e-mail the DWD at dwd@gov.bm to register and take advantage of any present or future opportunities.
