Two lawyers have been promoted to the role of senior associate and two aspiring lawyers have been awarded pupillages at the law firm Marshall Diel & Myers Limited.

Alma Dismont and Tina Herrero have earned promotion, and Tanisha Butler and Roshanda Smith have secured pupillages.

The firm said that Ms Dismont completed her academic training in 2009 at the University of Law in England, where she earned a Student of the Year award.

She gained experience at London-based firms before moving to the island with her Bermudian husband, joining MDM in 2014 after being called to the Bermuda Bar in 2013.

Ms Dismont specialises in all aspects of family and matrimonial law including domestic partnerships, prenuptial agreements to separation agreements and divorce.

Ms Herrero obtained her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University.

She was called to the Texas Bar in 2013 and practised as a litigation attorney in the United States before she returned home to Bermuda in 2017.

Ms Herrero joined MDM in March 2018 after being called to the Bermuda Bar in 2017.

The firm said that she specialises in civil and commercial litigation, including employment law, shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, trust disputes, insolvency and liquidations, personal injury, professional negligence and medical negligence.

MDM said that Ms Butler joined the firm in 2014 as an executive assistant after working as a certified paralegal in the United States for ten years.

The firm said that she was eager to elevate her passion for the law by pursuing her Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP University and Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in England, while working full time for the firm.

Ms Smith joined the firm last November as a paralegal after obtaining her Graduate Diploma in Law and completing the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law.

Director Katie Tornari said: “We are very proud of Alma, Tina, Tanisha and Roshanda’s achievements. They have each worked tirelessly to develop their own legal careers and to promote our firm.

“They are all exceptionally talented and are invaluable members of our firm who are dedicated to serving our clients and committed to the values that are core to our practice.

“These promotions also reflect our dedication as a firm to develop the next generation of Bermudian lawyers and our ambitions to continue to grow Marshall Diel & Myers Limited as a leading law firm in Bermuda.”
