Digicel Business is keeping home, the charity for homeless people in Bermuda, connected, providing it with high-speed, reliable Digicel Business internet, the company has said.

A Digicel statement said the donation includes broadband internet, television and landline services that will assist the charity with its daily office operations and outreach seminars. It also allows beneficiaries to connect with friends, family and future opportunities.

Shane McDonnell, Digicel’s head of business solutions, said: “home supports our vulnerable homeless community by providing a safe space where they can get housing, everyday living necessities and create a foundation to get back into the community. This donation will help to boost the charity in its mission to support its beneficiaries and prevent new cases of homelessness.”

Home was launched on September 30, 2021 and has has worked with government programmes, non-governmental agencies, charities, philanthropies and the religious and wider local community to create a plan to eradicate homelessness on the island through inter-agency cooperation.

Denise Carey, CEO and executive director of the charity, said: “home would like to thank Digicel for its generous provision of a landline, television and broadband internet services to our properties.

“Online access allows our residents to efficiently look for housing and complete job searches, and the landline provides potential employers and family members with a number to contact them.

”Case managers can also be reached after hours, thanks to the cellphones. Our residents and staff are very grateful for such a practical donation.”
