Paradise Mobile celebrates Ookla Award
The Paradise Mobile team celebrated their recent Ookla win with a special event at its flagship store on Reid Street.
The award, which they officially won during their visit to Barcelona for the Mobile World Conference, marks the new network as Bermuda’s Fastest 5G Network by Ookla, the global leader in connectivity intelligence.
Before the latest success, Paradise Mobile was Bermuda's Speedtest Awards Winner for mobile network speed during Q1-Q2 2024. To win the award, the company achieved a speed score of 134.74, with median download speeds of 133.33 Mbps and median upload speeds of 21.87 Mbps.
But the company won for the second consecutive time, with even better numbers.
In the most recent comparison, Paradise Mobile achieved a median download speed of 219.68 Mbps overall, and an astounding 281.28 Mbps specifically on its 5G network, doubling its 5G speeds in just six months.
Today’s celebratory event was attended by the growing local team as well as executives, advisers and key stakeholders.
Also in attendance was Alexa Lightbourne, the Minister of Home Affairs.
Paradise Mobile said the award was a milestone in Bermuda’s journey towards becoming a tech hub.
Ms Lightbourne said: “Today’s celebration represents not just Paradise Mobile’s success but Bermuda’s commitment to becoming a digitally empowered nation.
“Paradise Mobile’s innovative approach is helping to position Bermuda as a global leader in 5G connectivity and their contributions are directly aligned with our mission to create an accessible and inclusive digital future for all Bermudians.”
Sam Tabbara, the chief executive and cofounder of Paradise Mobile, said: “Being recognised with Ookla’s Fastest 5G Network award is an incredible honour, not just for our team, but for Bermuda.
“It’s proof that we’re on the right path. We’ve already built one of the fastest networks in the world and we’re just getting started.
“Our mission is to keep pushing the boundaries until Paradise Mobile and Bermuda, are known globally as the best and fastest.
“With speeds already double what we achieved last year, the momentum is real and the future is even faster.”
