The Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association of Bermuda together with South Square, a leading set of commercial barristers chambers in London, hosted their inaugural joint conference at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.

More than 100 professionals from the insolvency, restructuring and legal sectors included local and international delegates.

The programme featured a series of educational panel discussions covering topical legal developments and trends impacting the restructuring and insolvency landscape. Attendees gained valuable insights from leading practitioners and members of the judiciary.

A highlight of the event was a “Conversation with the Bench” session, featuring three sitting judges of the Bermuda Commercial Court: Chief Justice Larry Mussenden, Puisne Judge Andrew Martin and Assistant Justice Nicholas Segal. The judges shared perspectives from the bench on legal challenges and development, together with insights on their experience before joining the judiciary.

Kehinde George, RISA Bermuda committee member and conference co-chair, said: “It was a privilege to cohost the inaugural RISA and South Square conference alongside my fellow co-chair, Mark Phillips KC, and welcome the visiting South Square team.

“The event continued a decades-long association between South Square members and Bermuda and brought together a wide range of restructuring, insolvency and legal professionals from Bermuda and the UK to explore a range of important topics.

“We are especially grateful to the panellists for their time and insightful contributions and to the organisers for their sterling work in making the event a success. We look forward to welcoming the South Square team back in the future.”
