Ascot Group Ltd, a global specialist insurer headquartered in Bermuda, has appointed three seasoned executives — Rosalind Brewer, Martin Flanagan and Robert Sewell — to its board of directors, pending regulatory approval.

Kewsong Lee, the chairman, said: “We are excited to have these three dynamic executives join our board of directors. Roz, Marty and Rob each bring invaluable experiences and a unique set of leadership skills to this organisation.”

Ascot’s chief executive, Jonathan Zaffino, added: “Ascot Group, our colleagues and clients will all benefit from the strategic expertise, leadership qualities and vast experience that Roz, Marty and Rob bring to our organisation. I am excited to collaborate with each of them.”

Ms Brewer serves as interim president of Spelman College and sits on the board of United Airlines Holdings. A former chief executive of Walgreens Boots Alliance, she has also held leadership roles at Starbucks, Walmart and Kimberly-Clark.

Martin “Marty” Flanagan, the chairman of Engage Ventures LLC, previously led Invesco as CEO and president and directed its acquisition of Oppenheimer Funds. He is a CFA chartered professional.

Robert Sewell is chairman of the board at Ascot Underwriting Ltd in England. A former chief financial officer at Pension Insurance Corp, he joined Ascot’s UK board in 2023 and took over as chair in 2024.

Sam Blaichman, managing director at CPP Investments and an Ascot board director, said: “We look forward to working with our new directors. The Ascot Group has achieved a tremendous level of success over the past few years, and the new board members’ expertise will be valuable in guiding Ascot through its next stage of growth. I also want to take the opportunity to thank Susan Sutherland, Murray Wallace and Sir Richard Dearlove for their service.”

These appointments support Ascot’s near 25-year legacy and align with its goals for strategic expansion and leadership excellence in the speciality insurance sector, the company stated in a press release.
