The Ministry of Home Affairs’ Cost of Living Summit, scheduled for tomorrow, has reached capacity following overwhelming interest.

The event at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club will be streamed live through the Government’s CITV YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Those who could not register can tune in at 9am to watch the opening remarks by Alexa Lightbourne, the Minister of Home Affairs.

Her welcome will be followed by a series of focused panel discussions aimed at exploring solutions to tackle affordability in the areas of housing, utilities and food cost.

Ms Lightbourne was encouraged by the overwhelming response to the summit.

“It is a clear sign that the community is eager and ready to engage in solution-based dialogue around an issue that affects us all,” she said. “We will bring together key stakeholders and the public for a focused conversation on addressing Bermuda’s cost of living challenges.”

She said the forum was a commitment from the Government to listen, and act in partnership with the community and private sector.

“This forms the first phase of the ministry’s approach to addressing the cost of living,” she said. “At the end of the summit, we will take the feedback received and determine the next steps to a more affordable Bermuda.”

At www.costoflivingsummit.gov.bm, the public can see the scheduled agenda of events planned for tomorrow, and participate in a series of public online surveys which will be featured throughout the day.
