Digicel has received two certifications for information security and data privacy, showing they meet requirements set by the International Standards Organisation.

The firm said this demonstrated their leadership in cybersecurity and privacy, calling the certifications some of the most recognised in the world.

The certifications followed two ISO audits evaluating the company’s privacy and cybersecurity operations, controls, processes, policies and procedures.

Digicel is the only company in the Caribbean to hold ISO certifications in both cybersecurity and privacy and the certifications.

“This demonstrates Digicel’s strong commitment to compliance and protecting internal networks and data, including customer data within its internal networks,” Digicel said.

David Wong, Digicel’s group director of security and operations, said his firm took information security and data privacy extremely seriously and was proactive in doing the right things.

“These certifications are a testament to that focus and our emphasis on continuous improvement and the quest for excellence,” he said.

Michael Watson, the group chief compliance and cybersecurity officer, said Digicel continued to augment its cybersecurity and data privacy capabilities.

“We practise to ensure that we have the relevant safeguards to help protect Digicel and our customers,” he said. “I couldn’t be prouder of the Digicel teams that made this possible.”
