Hamilton names Raymond Karrenbauer as group CIO
Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed Raymond Karrenbauer as group chief information officer, effective September 15. Karrenbauer will join the company’s executive management team and report to Craig Howie, group chief financial officer.
The seasoned information technology executive takes over from Venkat Krishnamoorthy, who is set to retire on August 30 after six years at Hamilton, which is headquarted in Bermuda. The group operates globally through its three underwriting platforms: Hamilton Global Speciality, Hamilton Select and Hamilton Re.
“Technology enablement is and will continue to be a core business imperative at Hamilton,” said Pina Albo, group chief executive. “As a results-driven leader with an impressive track record of innovation and execution, as well as a deep understanding of the insurance industry, Raymond will ensure we continue to enhance our technological capabilities and deliver exceptional value to all our stakeholders.”
Mr Karrenbauer previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body, supporting US Department of Defence cybersecurity compliance. Before that, he was CIO at IFG Companies, where he led the group’s digital transformation, and held senior executive roles at Axis Capital and ING Group. He was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame in 2018.
Mr Krishnamoorthy is credited with playing a central role in the company’s technology evolution, including its acquisition of Pembroke Managing Agency in 2019 and its successful listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2023.
“We are grateful to Venkat for his contributions and wish him every success in his retirement,” Ms Albo said.
