Financial literacy summit to launch in September
Bermuda will host its first financial literacy summit in September as part of an initiative to tackle wealth inequality and empower the island’s next generation of investors, entrepreneurs and professionals.
The one-day summit, organised by the Lumina Festival, will take place on September 26 at The Shed in Dockyard. It promises real talk and practical tools for anyone navigating their personal finance journey, from students to seasoned business owners.
“We’ll be having real conversations and getting to the root of things to cultivate real change,” said Zach Wilson, cofounder of the Lumina Festival. “While being informed, I also wanted to create a space where people are still entertained and feel seen.”
The event will feature panels, workshops and interviews with financial experts and successful entrepreneurs, including keynote speaker 19Keys, a globally recognised wealth and mindset strategist.
Other speakers include Neville Grant, chief executive of the Bermuda Bankers Association, Shantel DeShield, founder of Pocket Change BDA, Mandela Fubler, CEO of Signature FX.
Tickets start at $150 and are available at luminafest.com and ptix.bm. A VIP ticket includes access to a networking happy hour from 5pm to 7pm on the day of the summit.
A private cultural showcase with live performances will follow on September 27.
Mr Wilson and cofounder Cameron Capers, who brings experience from projects with Beyoncé, Netflix and Coca-Cola, are also seeking sponsors to fund the attendance of 300 students from local high schools and Bermuda College.
“This is about creating access and showing young people they can build wealth on their terms,” Mr Wilson said.
