Freisenbruch offers medical malpractice policy
Freisenbruch Insurance Services has launched BerMedica, a new medical malpractice insurance product designed specifically for Bermuda’s healthcare professionals.
Unveiled to healthcare stakeholders at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club on July 24, the policy was created in response to a request from the Bermuda Hospitals Board and after more than a year of development, according to the company. It aims to offer clearer, more affordable coverage for doctors and clinicians, particularly those working in emergency or lifesaving care.
“BerMedica was developed to address longstanding concerns with a bespoke solution that offers broader definitions of cover,” said Marie Voysey Moss, vice-president of corporate insurance at Freisenbruch. “We are proud to introduce an affordable, transparent policy that gives Bermuda’s healthcare professionals the confidence and clarity they deserve, especially when responding to critical care needs.”
Freisenbruch said the policy is not affiliated with the hospital, but was informed by the realities at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and shaped to meet the island’s specific healthcare needs.
Scott Pearman, chief executive and president of the Bermuda Hospitals Board, welcomed the new product.
“We welcome the introduction of BerMedica, which recognises the pressures and responsibilities carried by medical professionals and provides meaningful, practical support,” Mr Pearman said. “It’s encouraging to see a policy that reflects local needs and strengthens the foundation of care delivery.”
