MSN is highlighting Condé Nast Traveler’s take on the 16 best bars in Bermuda, a part of the travel publication’s Bermuda Travel Guide.

The online news service list is alongside the ten best museums in Bermuda, the 12 best places for shopping and the Bermuda snorkelling guide: nine best dive sites on the island.

MSN’s coverage extends the reach of the tourism-directed endeavour, as the opening centres on available libations.

It states: “Bermuda’s love affair with drinking has long been connected to its most heavily imbibed spirit — the molasses-coloured rum, Gosling’s Black Seal — which was first blended in the 1850s by the sons of an English wine merchant named William Gosling.

“Today, it’s the key ingredient in Bermuda’s two national cocktails — the dark n’ stormy and the rum swizzle — both of which are proudly served in every bar and restaurant on the island. And while Bermuda has a handful of upscale wine bars and craft cocktail lounges where a potent rum drink should be an afterthought, don’t make the trip to this pink sand paradise without downing a bit of the Black.”

The guide is put together by David LaHuta, a Bermudian-based travel journalist who regularly contributes to dozens of publications including The New York Times, Travel + Leisure and AFAR. His book, Frommer’s Bermuda, is described as the most comprehensive guide to the mid-Atlantic island in print.

The travel expert has visited more than 60 countries and appears on networks including the Travel Channel and CNN. He was also a host on OutsideTV, America's top adventure sports network.

He spends his time beachcombing and boating with his wife and two sons near their home in Warwick.

Also highlighted is Moongate Brewing Co: “This isn’t Bermuda’s first craft brewery, but it’s the island’s newest and most entertaining. Located in a warehouse in St George’s dating back to 1860, Moongate Brewing Company offers a variety of craft beers brewed on-site, while keeping you [and the children] busy with table games, lawn games and video games.”

The article points out: “The Frog & Onion Pub has the unique distinction of being housed in a converted 18th-century stone cooperage where barrels were once built for the British Royal Navy.

It says of the Boundary Sports Bar & Grill: “This neighbourhood sports bar sits above the clubhouse at Turtle Hill Golf Course, a stunning ocean-view par-three that’s on the grounds of the long-closed Fairmont Southampton Resort.”

An observation of the Little Venice Wine Bar is: “...a traditional trattoria, has one of the largest wine lists in Bermuda, which is why its shady sidewalk tables are often crowded with folks drinking chilled sauvignon blanc and full-bodied Chianti at lunch and, even more likely, at the stroke of 5pm.”
