Students can apply for a hands-on experience in the Conyers law firm before continuing their education.

Starting this autumn, the Gap Year Programme offers students opportunities across the firm’s business services teams, including in compliance, trust services, corporate services, marketing and finance.

The firm said: “Participants will contribute meaningfully from Day 1, working on a variety of assignments that build skills and confidence, and will be supported by training and mentorship that offers insight into the firm’s operations.”

The programme generally requires a three to four-month commitment to a full-time position, starting in October.

Upon joining, students receive a formal induction and benefit from a variety of informal learning, mentoring and professional development activities.

Conyers expects applications from Bermudian students aged at least 18, who are enrolled in, or have deferred, an associate or undergraduate degree programme.

Lisa Spencer-Arscott, global head of human resources, said: “Now in its fifth year, the Gap Year Programme has seen great success, with students enhancing their skill sets through practical, hands-on experience.

“Several participants have gone on to complete their degrees and join Conyers in full-time roles.

“We aim for the students to build professional confidence, expand career perspectives and be equipped with skills that will serve them in a field they choose to pursue.”
