Fintech webinar to focus on regulation

The next instalment of the Economic Development Department’s Fintech Webinar Series 2025 will explore the Influence of the Digital Asset Business Regulatory Framework in a virtual session featuring Tiffany Austin, assistant director, supervision (fintech) at the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

The event on Friday is part of the Government’s efforts to promote education, engagement and international collaboration in support of Bermuda’s fintech ecosystem, a statement from the EDD said today.

Ms Austin’s presentation will offer participants an overview, including:

• The BMA’s role in the local and global financial system

• Why Bermuda is considered a leading jurisdiction for digital-asset business

• What fintech newcomers need to know when exploring opportunities in Bermuda

• Insight into whether there are any sectors supported or influenced by digital assets in Bermuda

Maryem Biadillah, acting director of the EDD, said: “We are pleased to partner with the Bermuda Monetary Authority to present this month's webinar on such an important topic.

This event aligns with Bermuda’s broader Economic Development Strategy, which seeks to leverage emerging technologies to generate new economic opportunities, develop skill sets, and attract strategic partnerships to the jurisdiction.

The webinar is open to the public, and those interested are encouraged to register early on the web pages of the EDD.

The department said it is dedicated to advancing Bermuda's economy through innovation, policy development and industry support.

By fostering an environment for digital transformation, the EDD said it plays a key role in ensuring Bermuda remains at the forefront of global economic trends.
